Who we are
Australia and Thailand's longest-standing business bridge
The Australia Thailand Business Council is the peak bilateral business organisation dedicated to the Australia–Thailand corridor. Established in 1980, we have spent more than forty years building the relationships, trust and market knowledge that turn cross-border ambition into commercial reality.
With principal networks in Sydney and Bangkok, the Council brings together entrepreneurs, SMEs, corporates, investors and advisors on both sides of the corridor — Australian businesses expanding into Thailand and Southeast Asia, and Thai businesses and investors building their presence in Australia.
We work hand-in-hand with the institutions that shape the bilateral relationship: the Australian Government, the Royal Thai Embassy and Consulate, the Thailand Board of Trade, the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) and the Ministry of Commerce. When our members need a door opened, we know which one — and who holds the key.
What we do
Practical work that moves business across borders
The Council is not a talking shop. Everything we do is designed to produce commercial outcomes for the people and companies in our network.
Advocacy & government access
We represent our members' interests with government and regulators in both countries, and connect them directly with the officials and agencies who matter to their business.
Trade missions & delegations
We lead and support business missions between Australia and Thailand — putting members in the room with senior government officials, industry leaders and matched business partners.
Market insight & intelligence
Briefings, regulatory updates and on-the-ground commentary from people actively doing business in both markets — so members move early and with confidence.
Events & networking
Forums, roundtables and networking events that bring government, industry and the private sector to the same table, in Sydney, Bangkok and beyond.
Introductions & business matching
Warm, targeted introductions across a trusted network — to partners, distributors, investors, advisors and clients on both sides of the corridor.
Visibility & promotion
We put our members in front of the bilateral business community — through our directory, communications, events and digital channels.
What's in it for you
Real connections. Real intelligence. Real outcomes.
Membership of the Council is a commercial decision, and it should pay its way. Here is what our network delivers:
For Australian businesses
Thailand is your gateway to a Southeast Asian market of more than 660 million consumers. The Council gives you the contacts, market knowledge and government access to enter and grow with confidence — without learning every lesson the expensive way.
For Thai businesses & investors
Australia offers a stable, transparent and resource-rich economy with deep ties to Thailand. The Council connects you to the partners, advisors and opportunities that make an Australian expansion or investment succeed.
Members use the Council to create:
- Market entry and expansion partnerships
- Introductions to investors and capital
- Distribution, supply and joint-venture relationships
- New client relationships in both markets
- Direct lines to government and regulators
- Early knowledge of emerging opportunities
What we aim to achieve
A deeper, busier, more valuable corridor
Our vision is simple: more trade, more investment and more successful partnerships flowing in both directions between Australia and Thailand — with the Council as the corridor's most trusted platform.
Under new leadership, the Council is entering a deliberate phase of growth: new initiatives, stronger strategic partnerships, expanded trade missions and richer opportunities for members to connect, learn and grow.
“Above all, I want every member and sponsor to experience tangible benefits from being part of the Council, and to view the ATBC as an essential partner in their business growth.”
